Early Musicianship

Preschool music classes ages 18 months to 3 years old sing, move and play percussion instruments while learning new songs, meeting new friends and sharing the joy of music. This class introduces the basic elements of music (beat, rhythm, tempo, dynamics, pitch, etc.) through movement games, stories, and songs that help lay the musical foundation for future study of an instrument.

Learn about instruments by trying them out! Explore the violin, cello, piano, recorder, drums and xylophone while learning about basic elements of music like ear training, solfege, simple notation and rhythm. This is a great way to help identify which instrument your child would like to study. Lessons are 30 minutes.

Early Musicianship provides a musical foundation for students and acts as a great jumping off point for group music lessons.

Group Classes

Fort Bend Music Center group lessons are a great introduction for beginning younger students ages 4 to 8 years old. Group lessons are one hour long and students are paired together based on age ranges. FBMC group lessons help establish a foundation for playing the instrument while introducing students to a range of musical traditions and techniques.

Most importantly, the classes help instill a love of music that will last a lifetime. Group lessons for the younger students are filled with fun activities to help keep them engaged in the class. They are a natural stepping stone to private instructions with Fort Bend Music Center’s world-class faculty. FBMC can help to create group lessons in any particular instrument in response to student demand.
